Client Engagement Agreement

01 / Who This Agreement Is Between

This agreement is between you (identified in the fields above) and Skyy Law Solutions, LLC, by Stephen W. Adamsky, Esq. It takes effect on the date and time you submit this form.

02 / The Matter I Am Handling for You

You are hiring me to handle the matter you selected above (estate plan, marital dissolution, prenuptial agreement, postnuptial agreement, custody modification, or adoption) in the state you selected (Illinois or Missouri).

03 / Your Legal Insurance

You have confirmed above that your legal insurance is provided by ARAG or MetLife and you have entered your Member ID. By signing below, you confirm that you are currently an active member of that plan and that the matter you selected appears to be a covered service under your plan.

04 / This Is an Uncontested Matter Only

My representation is limited to handling your matter as uncontested. That means all parties are in agreement, or no other party is opposing what you are asking the court to do.

Your matter becomes contested if any of the following happen:

• The other party hires an attorney to oppose you
• The other party files a response disputing what you are asking the court to do
• The other party refuses to sign the agreed documents needed to resolve the matter
• Any party begins asking the court to decide issues rather than agree to them

05 / If Your Matter Becomes Contested

If your matter becomes contested at any point, my representation of you ends. Your case does not end — but you will need to hire a different attorney to continue with the contested portion. When my representation ends, I will notify you in writing, give you your complete file, and cooperate reasonably with your new attorney. I will not represent you in any contested proceeding.

06 / Attorney’s Fees

You owe me nothing for attorney’s fees. Your legal insurance pays all attorney’s fees for covered services under your plan. I bill your insurance directly. You will not receive an invoice from me for my time.

07 / Costs Are Your Responsibility

Costs are separate from attorney’s fees. You are responsible for paying all costs directly to the third party charging them. Depending on your matter, these may include court filing fees, publication fees, sheriff or process server fees, certified copies, recording fees, court reporter fees, and any other third-party fees required to complete your matter.

I do not advance costs on your behalf. You will pay the court, sheriff, publisher, or other third party directly when payment is due.

08 / Electronic Records

By submitting this agreement, you agree that this agreement, and any records related to your matter that we exchange by email or through electronic means, will be as legally valid as paper records.

09 / Insurance Carrier Access to Case Information

Your insurance carrier (ARAG or MetLife) may receive administrative information about your matter as needed for them to process claims and pay for my services. This is a standard part of using legal insurance and does not compromise the confidentiality of our attorney-client communications.

10 / Your Signature

When you check the box below and submit this form, your typed full legal name (entered above) is your electronic signature. Under Illinois and Missouri law, this electronic signature is as legally valid as a handwritten signature on paper.
